Abstract

Serum and saliva of 20 healthy persons and of 20 patients with various diseases, not "autoimmune diseases", and showing buccal signals of candidiasis were investigated by indirect immunofluorescence (1.1.) as for the presence of antibodies (Abs) against Candida albicans A. The seric titles of healthy persons had a variation between 4 and 64 and only had presence of that Abs in saliva, with a title of 1; in the patients with buccal signals of candidiasis the seric titles, also positives, floated from 32 to 2048 and in saliva the positiveness was constant with titles of 1 to 16. ln a third group, constituted of 30 patients with "autommune diseases" and submitted to immunossupressive treatment, the seric titles were between 32 to 2048, while in saliva, 1 to 8. Three patients with "autoimmune diseases" without any treatment and presenting clinical signals of Candida infection, showed seric titles of 64, 8 and 8, and Abs were not detected in saliva. The ínvestigation by 1.1. of G,M,A,D, and E of the immunoglobulins classes, in the samples of serum and saliva, which presented concomitance of positivity of Abs against C.albicans A, showed the concurrence of the IgG, IgM, IgA and IgD in serum and saliva, in the presence of buccal signals of candidiasis.
