Abstract

the purpose of the present study was to evaluate the marginal leakage in bovine teeth that were restaured with composite resin using adhesive system applied with or without friction. Forty Class V cavities were prepared in 40 bovine teeth envolving the amelocemental limit. The cavities were made with diamond burr nº 3053 having 4 mm of diameter and 2 mm of depth. The teeth were divided in 2 groups: in G1, the adhesive system was applied without friction; in G2, the adhesive system was applied with friction. The cavities were restaured with composite resin by incremental techinique and each layer was photopolymerized for 40 seconds at 400 mW/cm2 light intensity. The specimens were thermocycled in water to 500 cycles from 5°C to 55°C. The teeth were immersed in 0,5% methylene blue solution and at room temperature for 24 hours. After, the teeth were sectioned and analysed in a sterescopic loupe. The evaluation criterion was: score 0, no leakage; 1, to enamel-dentin and cementum-dentin limit; 2, to axial wall and 3 to the pulp. The results were statistically analysed by Mann-Whitney’s and Wilcoxon’s test to the significance level of 0,05 and it was concluded that there was no significant statistical difference.
