Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the type of adhesive system in the shear bond strength to dentin deproteinized with NaOCl. Sixty bovine incisives were embedded in acrylic resin and the buccal surfaces were grounded with sandpaper 600, to achieve a smooth dentin surface. Over this surface, an adhesion area of 3 mm of diameter was delimited using an adhesive tape. The teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups according to the surface treatment and the adhesive type: G1: One-Up Bond F (OU); G2: H3PO4 at 35% for 15 s + Prime & Bond NT (PB); G3: H3PO4 + NaOCl at 10% for 1 min + OU; G4: H3PO4 + NaOCl + PB. The adhesives were applied according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Over the adhesion area resin cylinders were confectioned with Z250 composite resin measuring 3 mm of diameter and 4 mm of height. The samples were submitted to the shear bond strength test using an mechanical machine with a speed of 1 mm.min-1. The data was submitted to ANOVA and Tukey’s test. The ANOVA test showed a value of p = 0,00. The means (±standard deviations) and the results of the Tukey’s test were: G4: 12.29 (± 5.10)a; G3: 8.23 (± 1.49)b; G1: 8.23 (±3.2)b; G2: 8.04 (± 2.47)b. The groups followed by the same letter didn’t show significant differences. We concluded that the deproteinization result in a significant increase of adhesive resistance for the adhesive PB and didn’t perform significant influence for the adhesive OU.
