Abstract

The purpose of this work was to verify the effects of the Primer Bond 2.0 dentin adhesive in pulp and dentin of rats through the light microscopic. The sample consisted of 20 rats (Rattus Norvegicus Holtzman) whose first four molars were used. The right hemi-arch was used as a control group and the first superior and inferior molars had their cavities filled out with Hydro C (Dentsply) and recovered with a layer of restoring resin (Adaptic - Dentsply). In the molars of the left hemi-arch group treated, an acid attack was accomplished and later the cavities were covered with dentin adhesive Primer Bond 2.0 (Dentsply) and restored with Adaptic resin (Dentsply); the effects were observed after 7, 15, 30 and 45 days. The group being treated showed at the 7th and 15th days, a disorganization of the pulpar tissue with the presence of inflammatory cells and degeneration of the odontoblastic layer; in the subsequent periods, 30 and 45 days, the inflammatory process decreased, the odontoblastic layer showed signs of recovery and the presence of reactional dentin was observed. In the control group (Hydro C) signs of inflammatory process of the pulpar tissue were not present in any period
