Abstract

The aim of this study was to create a new method to evaluate the vertical discrepancies ocurred after the seating of full metal crowns. In order to get it, stainless steel was machined to obtain dies and metal capsules that were juxtaposed, fitted together and seated on them, making the samples. The authors diversified the types of cervical finishing of the prepare that presented chamfer shape, knife edge, 135-degree shoulder, flat shoulder with a 45-degree bevel and flat shoulder. Many other metal capsules were obtained by the same way and internally consumed in 30 micrometers up to 0.5millimeter distan t from the cervical finishing preparation, and it characteried the internal relief of the crowns. In order to get precise values, an original method was developed, what permitted not only the use of the samples again but also prevented the capsules from deslocating before and during the mensuration procedures.
