Os autores estudaram comparativamente, em 10 pacientes desdentados totais, a variação da posição de dimensão vertical de repouso mandibular em três períodos do dia (8, 11 e 16 horas) antes e após a instalação das próteses totais recém-construídas. Observou-se que a maior variação ocorreu em pacientes sem as dentaduras às 8 horas e a menor, nos pacientes com dentaduras às 16 horas.

The autors carried out a study in ten edentulous patients and evaluated the variation of mandibular rest interval in three periods of the day: at 8 a.m; 11 a.m and 4p.m.. The measures were made before and after delivering the complete dentures.
