Camundongos fêmeas, prenhes, aos 14 ou aos 17 dias de gestação, foram sacrificadas e os germes dentais dos primeiros molares inferiores dos fetos dissecados e conservados em meio de cultura. Camundongos adultos, machos, foram anestesiados e receberam os germes dentais como transplantes na câmara anterior do olho. Os hospedeiros foram injetados com 5 mg/kg de metotrexato durante 3 dias e sacrificados 1, 2, 3,4 e 5dias após a última injeção. Animais controles foram injetados com água destilada. Os resultados mostraram-se compatíveis entre os animais do grupo controle e do grupo tratado. Diante dos resultados encontrados, pode-se concluir que, nas condições experimentais deste trabalho, o metotrexato mostrou-se biologicamente compatível com o desenvolvimento do órgão dental nos estágios analisados.

Pregnant female mice were killed at the 14th ar 17th day of the gestational period and the first mandibular molar tooth germ of the foetuses were dissected and kept in MEM-Eagle until be transplanted to the anterior chamber of the eye of host animals. The host animals were injected with 5 mg/kg of body weight of methotrexate during the following three days and killed 1, 2, 3, 4 ar 5 days after the last drug injection. The results showed compatible aspects when the control and the treated groups were compared. Thus, was concluded that, in the conditions used here, there is no hazardous effects of the methotrexato on tooth germ development.
