Este trabalho teve como objetivo o estudo histológico dos efeitos da estimulação ultra-sónica sobre o processo de reparo em feridas de extração dental em ratos. Foram utilizados 42 ratos divididos em dois grupos, um controle (I) e um experimental (II), de 21 animais cada, dos quais foi extraído o dente incisivo superior direito. O grupo tratado recebeu estímulo ultra-sónico com freqüência de repetição de 100 Hz, largura de pulso de 10 us, de modo continuo durante 5 minutos diários, por animal, desde o dia da exodontia até 24 horas antes do sacrifício. Os animais foram sacrificados aos 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 e 21 dias pós-operatórios. Os resultados mostraram que não houve alteração na cronologia do processo de reparo alveolar, o qual se completou aos 21 dias, tanto no grupo experimental como no controle.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate histologically the effects of ultrasound stimulation on the socket wound healing process in rats. The right upper incisor was extracted from 42 rats that were divided in two groups, one control (I) and one experimental (II). The rats from group II were treated with ultrasound stimulation which was applied with the frequence of repetition of 100 Hz and pulse length of 10 us continuously, during five minutes daily since the extraction day until 24 hours before the sacrifice. The animals were sacrified at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 post operative days. There was no alteration considering socket wound healing process in the treated group, and in both groups (I and II) the healing was completed after 21 days.
