Abstract

The bone age in normal children was determined from hand-wrist radiographs and dental age from orthopantomograms in both sexes. This biological maturation state of growth was investigated in brazilian children, living in Araçatuba (Sp). The results showed: 1) homogeneous data of chronalogical age; 2) bone age determined by Greulich Pyle Atlas was significantly smaller than their chronological age, in both sexes in all groups; 3) the girls showed accelerated development of permanent teeth; 4) stages of tooth and hand-wrist development were appropriate in assessment of the degree of physiological maturity of a growing child
