Resumo
Foi realizado um levantamento das condições de saúde periodontal, através dos critérios do CPITN, em jovens de 18 a 19 anos de idade, alistados no Serviço Militar, na região de Araraquara-SP. Os resultados mostraram que 100% dos atiradores examinados apresentaram necessidade de algum tipo de tratamento periodontal; 8,47% dos sextantes necessitam apenas de instrução de higiene bucal, enquanto a maioria, 88,71% , necessita de raspagem e instrução de higiene bucal.

Abstract
An evaluation of health conditions was realized, using the CPITN critena, in young adults (18 to 19 years of age), enlisted for military service, in the region of Araraquara - SP. The results showed that 100% of the subjects presented need of some kind of penodontal treatment. From that total, 8.47% needed only oral hygiene instruction, while most 88.71% needed scalingand instruction.
