Abstract

The collagen membranes were implanted in subcutaneos tissue of rats after treated with 0.05% glutaraldeido for different periods (8, 22, 28 h). The animals were sacrificed after 3, 7, 15, 30, and 60 days. HistologicaI analysis showed: similar irritative pattems for the thre groups; resorption for all materials tested, complete in group I (8 h) and incomplete for groups II and III (22 and 28 h) after 60 days; good biological acceptance. Collagen is a promissing material to be used for making resorbable periodontal membranes.
