Abstract
Thirty-five amalgam restorations were made, with three alloy types: a conventional alloy L3 (Velvalloy), and two high copper alloy 12 (Novaloy). The restorations were suhmitted to different moments of polishing: mediate polishing and immediate polishing. The amalgam restorations were clinically evaluated in the hasic exam, in the course of six, twelve, and eighteen months, through the GUNNAR RYGE direct method. From the analysis of the results, it could be found and concluded: a) ln the restorations examined, caries recurrences, and fracture did not occur; b) the restoration margins suffered alterations with time and, c) the polishing type had some influence on the restoration behavior.
