Abstract

Experimental corticosteroid immunosupression in mice was obtained using 1 mg/kg/day of dexamethasone during a week. In order to check the immunosupressive effects of this  corticoid on the limphoid tissue we observed the animals endovenously with 1 mi of 1.10^6 of Candida albicans after the treatment with dexamethasone. We observed the set up and the development of the infection for 12 days and anatised the histologic aspects of the spects, thymus. lymph nodes, kidneys, Uver, lungs and skin obtained ar regular intervals from animals treated only with dexamethasone, only with Candida albicans or that had reeeived both treatments. From ou,. data we eoncluded that this dosage of dexamethasone induees immunosupression, affeeting speciaUy the spleen, that systemie eandidiasis is also able to induce immunosupression, affecting specially the thymus and that those immunosupressive effects are added when we associate the two treatments in mice.
