Resumo
Este trabalho apresenta um comentário sobre duas pesquisas de localização do eixo terminal de rotação (ETR) em edentados totais, determinados pelos métodos não guiado e guiado com compressão no mento. As principais conclusões foram: os pontos de emergência do ETR foram localizados no quadrante ántero-inferior; as definições dos pontos de emergência do ETR ocorreram próximas da posição de dimensão vertical de oclusão; os ETR foram determinados em locais precisos, sem dificuldade; cada método localizou um ETR.

Abstract
This investigation presents a commentary about two researches locating the terminal hing axis (THA) in totally edentulous people determined through the guided and not guided methods with chin compression. The main conclusions were: the emergency points of the THA were located in the anteroinferior quadrant; the definition of the emergency points of the THA will occur next the vertical dimension of occlusion position; the THA were determined in precise sites without difficult; each method located one THA.
