Abstract

A clinical trial was conducted to determine the retention o fan autopolymerized sealant, Delton (Johnson & Johnson), on occlusal surfaces of premolares and first permanent molars in school children, 6 to 9 years old, from an elementary school in Araraquara-SP. Complete retention of sealant on premolars at 6 and 12 moths was 95,6% and 92,2%, respectively, with no significant difference in complete retention of sealant between maxillary premolars and mandibular premolars at any examinations. Complete retention of sealant on first permanent molars at 6 and 12 months was 92,8% and 87,0%, respectively, with significant difference in complete retention of sealant between maxilary and mandibular molars at both examinations.
