Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse the reflex of the X-ray action on the salivary glands, on the alveolar wound healing. The irradiated glands probably undergo morphological and junctional changes, starting the secretion of their actives principles deviated of "norma" parameters. The groups I (control) II and (simulate) followed the normal wound healing pattern. The group III (irradiated) evidenced a delay on the reparation from the 6th post-operative day with subsequent decrease of neoformed bone and osteoclastic activity on neoformed osseus trabeculae what was evident at the 9th post-operative day. these findings were imputed to the endocrine action of the salivary glands and their relationship with the other internal secretion glands.
