Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyse histologically the replantation of dogs teeth after canal and root surface treatment with an alcaline pH tampon solution. Twenty-four upper and lower incisors from six young dogs were used. The teeth were extracted and kept by 15 minutes in an extra-alveolar environment. Pulp extirpation was performed and the teeth were divided into three groups. Group I - the root canal was filled with paste calcium hydroxide; Groups II and III - the teeth were immersed and their root canal were filled with Sorenson-Walbun solution. ln the Groups I and III, the intra-canal curatives were changed at 15 days and after that each 30 postoperative days. Two animais were sacrificed at 45, 105, and 195 days after teeth replantation. After routine laboratory, the obtained sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. It was concluded that root resorption at its middle and cervical level were equivalent in the three groups. ln the Group I, root resorption and inflammatory infiltration at apical area were less intense.
