Abstract

The effects of radiation X on the wound healing process after teeth extractions was studied histologically. Albino rats were employed; after their right upper incisors were extracted they were divided into groups of 20 animals each. With exception of the group I (control), 24 hours after teeth extractions the groups II, III, and IV receved radiation X, respectively, in the dosage of 75, 125 and 175 R. The rats were sacrificed, in group of 4, at 3, 6, 9, and 21 postoperative days. After laboratorial routine the obtained pieces were included in paraffin, suffered semi-serial cuts and were stained by hematoxylin and eosin. The results showed a delayed wound healing process after teeth extractions, which was more accentuated as more intense was the radiation X.
