Resumo

Foram utilizados 45 pré-molares hígidos, indicados para extração ortodôntica, de pacientes com idade compreendida entre 9 e 13 anos. As polpas foram expostas pela face oclusal e capeadas com um dos seguintes materiais: hidróxido de cálcio puro, MPC e Hypo-Cal. Sobre o material capeador foi colocado cimento de fosfato de zinco, e as cavidades seladas com amálgama de prata. Os dentes foram extraídos 10, 21, 40, 60 e 90 dias pós-operatório; fixados e desmineralizados para estudo histológico. Os resultados variaram para os materiais testados. Sob o hidróxido de cálcio puro foram observadas barreiras mineralizadas, com diversas características. Sobre o MPC não ocorreu formação de barreira mineralizada, e sob o HypoCal, quando a barreira mineralizada não se completou, formou-se outra, adjacente à inicial.

Abstract

Fourty five health human premolars which had heen extracted for othodontic reasons. from patients aged from 9 to 13 years were used in this study. Cavities were prepared in the occlusal surfaces and the pulps were exposed and covered with pure calcium hydroxide. MPC, and Hypo-Cal. A layer of zinc phosphate cement covered the capped material. and the cavities were filled with silver amalgam. The teeth were extracted at intervals varying from 10 to 90 days. and the specimens were prepared for histologic study. The results showed that the pulp response was different for each tested material. Mineralized harriers with several morphologic aspects were seen under the pure calcium hydroxide. No one minerafized barrier was formed under the MPC. Under the Hypo-Cal, when the mineralized barrier was no completed, another barrier was formed close to the first one.
