Abstract
Estudo histológico e histoquímico de glândulas submandibulares de camundongos inoculados experimentalmente pelo Trypanosoma cruzi, na fase aguda da doença, quando comparadas com glândulas de camundongos normais, mostrou as seguintes alterações: sinais de degeneração citoplasmática e atrofia das células acinosas e dos duetos granulosos, bem como, redução quantitativa dos grânulos de secreção, sendo esta maior ao nível dos duetos granulosos. Como conseqüência, houve atrofia dessas glândulas e diminuição da atividade secretora.

Resumo
It was studied the submandibular gland of normal mice and inoculated T. cruzi mice in the acute phase of the disease. The alterations as seen by histological and histochemical methods, showed signs of cytoplasmatic degeneration and acinar cells and granulous ducts atrophy. ln addition there was also a quantitative reduction of granules of secretion, especially at the level of the granulous ducts. Consequently, there was a secretory activity diminuition and atrophy of these glands.
