Abstract

Resin pastilles were implanted in rat subeutaneous tissue after storage for 2, 4, 6 and 8 days to access the influence of polymerization on tissue reaction. The experimental periods were 2, 3, 7, 16 and 32 days. The specimens were removed, fixed and prepared for histological evaluation. The polymerization was completed within the subcutaneous tissue, specially in view of the least storage period (group 1, 2 days); there was tissue tolerance to the implanted polyester resin, as show the histological picture obtained at the 32nd postoperative day for all the groups; at that time we could observe a dense fibrous capsule.
