Abstract

The dentigerous cyst is the most common odontogenic cyst and it is normally  associated with a non erupted permanent tooth. This article is a clinical case report of a 7 year old patient with an extended mandible dentigerous cyst on the right side involving the canine and bicuspids germs (43, 44 and 45). The treatment of choice, according to the lesion’s characteristics, patient age and number of teeth affected, was marsupialization and the clinical and radiographic follow-up in order to avoid a weakening of the jaw and allow the preservation and eruption of the permanent teeth involved in the process. After a year of follow up, there was a radiographic regression of the cyst and a slight movement of the germs and, after two years, it was found clinically the presence of those teeth in the oral cavity. Thus, we conclude that the chosen treatment was successful.
