Abstract

The evolution of the adhesive systems and composite resins in dentistry expanded the conservative treatment options allowing the resurgence of the minimally invasive cavity preparations technique with aluminum oxide air abrasive. Therefore, the aim of this study was to gather and select the most important publications found in PubMed, Lilacs and Scopus data base between 1945 and 2007; concerning the advantages, disadvantages, information and care in the clinical application of the aluminum oxide air abrasion and thereby demystify its use in the contemporary dental clinics.

Keywords

Aluminum oxide, air abrasion dental, dentistry operative
