Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of treated NiCr metal specimens (T1 = glossy; T2 = glossy and silanized; T3 = glossy and blasted with 10-20 μm grainsized aluminum oxide; T4 = glossy and blasted with 50 μm grain-sized aluminum oxide), cemented in bovine dentin with resin cement. 10 specimens were used per group. The bond strengths of the specimens were measured in a testing machine MTS 810 with a 100kgf load cell, at a crosshead speed of 1,0 mm/mim. The obtained results were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey’s test, permitting to conclude that: blast with 50 μm grain-sized aluminum oxide did not result in greater bond strength; blast with 10-20 μm and 50 μm grain-sized aluminum oxide resulted in greater bond strength than the glossy group and glossy and silanized group; silanization of metal specimens resulted in significant lower bond strength.
