Abstract

Joint sound researches contribute to better understanding of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), specially when the pathology involves disc dislodgement. Electrovibratography of asymptomatic and TMD patients have been showed joint sound characteristics in different fases of jaw opening and closure cycle. The purpose of this study was to evaluate vibratory energy, before and after TMD treatment, comparing to asymptomatic individuals. It was observed higher vibratory energy levels in TMD group. Patients with disc dislodgement showed high levels than patients with muscle pathology. After treatment the levels decreased, specially in these (muscle pathology) patients.
