Abstract

The authors have made a comparative evaluation of the color stability among: M1 – Charisma composite resin after photopolymerization, M2 – Charisma after photopolymerization and additional polymerization in Lightbox and M3 – Artglass composite resin after polymerization in UniXs set. A JOUAN eletrophoresis set was used to measure the percentage of translucency initialy and after 7, 14 and 21 days of controlled immersion in coffee solution. DES-RE solution was used as storage mean in constant temperature of 37+- 1ºC. ANOVA of the results showed differences among materials, observation periods as well as ;material X time interaction. These differences underwent Tukey test and it was concluded that: percentages of translucency were the same for M1 and M2, but lower for M3; the translucency reduction was more severe after 7 days of immersion into coffee, although it continued to take place until the end of the 21 days; M3 was the most susceptible to staining due to its rougher surface which increased incorporation of coffee pigments by the material.
