O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar clinicamente dois materiais restauradores estéticos, submetidos a dois procedimentos de acabamento, com ponta diamantada e com broca multilaminada. Foram realizadas 71 restaurações de classes III e V, avaliadas aos 3, 6, 12, 18 e 24 meses, observando-se cor, textura superficial, alteração de contorno, infiltração marginal, fratura de restauração, reincidência de cárie e queda da restauração. Para a análise estatística foram empregados o teste Exato de Fisher e o teste de McNemar, concluindo-se que as características infiltração marginal e textura superficial apresentavam deterioração. Para as demais características avaliadas, não houve diferença estatisticamente significante quanto ao tipo de instrumento utilizado no acabamento.

The purpose of this article was to analyze clinically two aesthetic restorative materials subjected to two finish proceedings, one with diamond point and the other with multisheeted burs. Seventy one (71) restorations of class III and V were accomplished and analyzed at 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months, in terms of color, superficial texture, out line shift, marginal infiltration, restoration fracture, recurrence of decay and restoration falling. Fisher’s Exact Test and Mc Nemar’s Test were applied for statistical analysis, and it was concluded that characteristic marginal infiltration and superficial texture presented deterioration. For the other characteristics analyzed there was no statistically significant difference related to the type of instrument used in the finish proceedings.
